Custom Jewelry Inquiries: Step by Step Process

I take on a small number of custom projects each season, in an effort to give each client a deeply creative and rewarding experience. "Custom" means we are creating a one-of-a-kind piece based on an existing M. Hisae design. We will work one-on-one to customize your chosen base design and source stones to suit your specific desires in terms of stone shape, size, and quality. Examples of styles that are well-suited to customization are the Hikaru Ring, Takara Ring, Crown Theia Ring, Crown Kaori Ring, Koemi Ring, and the Risa Ring. These projects take significant energy and time investment from both parties, so I ask that inquiries be made with serious intent, budget, and enthusiasm. A custom fee (amount varies) and a non-refundable deposit applies to all projects. All custom work is final sale. Direct inquiries to custom@mhisae.com.

STEP ONE

Email custom@mhisae.com. Share your story, occasion, vision, materials, timeline, budget, and which specific M. Hisae piece you would like to customize. The more you provide, the better. A welcome step further - share photos of the loved one you're dreaming up this piece for.

STEP TWO

The Design Fee varies, depending on the project. The Design Fee is in addition to the cost of the finished piece, and is paid up front. It covers time spent designing, sourcing, pricing and laying specs for your piece(s). All designs are insured with my expertise, whether you have your own clear picture of the design or if I take the reins fully.

Once we've narrowed in on a basic vision and a range for your budget, we can hop on a call. Great ideas can come out of these phone calls. We collect all pertinent information to begin designing. Please allow 2-3 weeks for us to develop and, if necessary, sketch out your unique designs.

I will send you multi-angle renderings and full specifications for 1-2 finished pieces. Then, you pick your favorite. We will list turnaround times for each design. Typically, it's 5-6 weeks to receive the finished product from that point.

The entire process, from inquiry to finished piece, takes about 6-8 weeks. Please factor this time into your inquiry. I can often accommodate rush timelines, though a rush fee may apply.

STEP THREE

I will source stone options (if applicable) for your piece and send detailed photos and videos. We can arrange for them to be mailed to you for in-person selection, if requested. Shipping fees apply if you would like to see gemstones in person. A 50% deposit of the final cost of the piece must be paid before any gemstones or diamonds are purchased/secured.
