Commissioned work is a fun and collaborative aspect of my studio practice. Whether it's upcycling a family heirloom, designing a like-no-other engagement ring for your one love, or commemorating a meaningful period in your life, I want to work with you! I take on a small number of custom projects each season, in an effort to give each client a deeply creative and rewarding experience. These projects take significant energy and time investment from both parties. I tend to over-deliver, as these projects bring me great joy, so I ask that inquiries be made with serious intent, budget, and enthusiasm. A custom fee applies to all projects outside of my current body of work. Direct inquiries to custom@mhisae.com.

STEP ONE

Email me!  Share your story, occasion, vision, materials, inspiration pieces, timeline, and budget. The more you provide, the better. Share photos of the loved one you're dreaming up this piece for. I am diligent about replying within three business days.

Direct inquiries to custom@mhisae.com.

Heirloom Stones
If you'd like to work with a family/heirloom diamond or gemstone, share specs, measurements, and and appraisal report, if available. There is no additional charge for using an heirloom diamond. A liability waiver with your tailored information will be created and must be signed before the stone leaves your possession. The customer assumes all risks associated with repurposing stone(s), since fragility is inherent to organic material's age, current use, and history of use. The stone(s) will be inspected thoroughly upon arrival at the M. Hisae studio, and any additional points of concern will be noted in writing and shared with the customer.

STEP TWO

I have three levels/fees, as the complexity of each project is quite dependent upon the design you have in mind. The design fee is in addition to the cost of the finished piece, and is paid up front. It covers time spent designing, sourcing, pricing and laying specs for your piece(s). All designs will are insured with my expertise, whether you have your own clear picture of the design or if I take the reins fully.

Once we choose a level, and we've nailed down a basic vision and a range for your budget, we can hop on a call (if included). I love getting to know my clients and what they want this piece to represent. Great ideas can come out of these phone calls. I'll make a game plan from there and begin designing. I like to have 10-14 days to develop and sketch out your designs.

I will send you multi-angle renderings and full specifications for 1-3 finished pieces. Then, you pick your favorite! I will list turnaround times for each design. Typically, it's 3-4 weeks to receive the finished product from that point.

The entire process, from inquiry to finished piece, takes about 6-8 weeks. Please factor this time into your inquiry. I can often accommodate rush timelines, though a rush fee may apply.

STEP THREE

I will source stone options (if applicable) for your piece on memo, and I will arrange for them to be mailed to you for in-person selection.

STEP FOUR

Your finished piece is delivered or mailed in an appropriate gifting box. I love sharing projects with my community, so we'll speak about privacy requests.
